Landscape Crew Member
Position Type: Part – Time /Temporary
Pay Range: Starting at $13.00 – $16.00/ Hour
Experience: Six (6) Months
Job Location(s): Fairfax County, Prince William County and Stafford County, Virginia – Plant beds on Roadway Medians.
Positions Available: Four (4)
Position Start Date: ASAP
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Duties:
- Remove grass, weeds, rock, litter, and other debris from planting beds. All grass and weeds are to be removed by hand only – including roots for planting beds.
- Pruning: shrubs, groundcovers, and perennials as directed to remove dead or damaged parts.
- Some invasive/nuisance vegetation will be cut.
- Mowing & raking, Leaf/debris collection, trimming.
Qualifications:
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with clients, crew members and management.
- Energetic, hardworking, and willing to learn.
- Speak and understand English fluently or Bilingual.
- Eligible to work in the US.
- Active and valid motor vehicle driver’s license (preferred but not required for hire).
- Detailed oriented.
Physical Requirements:
- Must wear long pants.
- Must wear hard hat provided by employer.
- Must wear steel toe boots while on job site.
- Work in most outdoor weather conditions.
- Lift and/or carry at least 50lbs.
- Must be able to conduct repetitive range of motion – requiring frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and shoveling.
Foreman
Position Type: Full Time
Pay Rate: $18- $24 Hourly
Experience: Two (2) Years
Job Location(s): Fairfax County & Stafford County, Virginia
Positions Available: Two (2)
Position Start Date: ASAP
Work Hours: Flexible Monday through Friday, 6:00am – 4:00pm
Duties:
- Load and unload company truck with provided equipment and supplies and transport them to job site.
- Ensure company truck and all machinery is fueled daily.
- Maintain daily inventory of safety vest, hard hat, steel toe boots, and long pants for crew members.
- Provide daily update on job site details, progress and inventory needs to supervisor.
- Ensure that all OSHA safety standards are met while on the job site.
- Conduct gardening technique trainings for junior/new crew members.
- Maintain company keys to warehouse and various equipment.
- Ability to motivate other crew members to complete jobs within specified timelines.
- Supervise timecard tracking for Crew Members.
- Survey prospective job sites and estimate labor and materials for job completion.
- Coordinate with external vendors while on job site (Traffic Control, equipment loaders, etc.)
Landscaping Duties:
- Remove grass, weeds, rock, litter, and other debris from planting beds.
- Manual pruning: shrubs, groundcovers, and perennials as directed to remove dead or damaged parts.
- Mowing, Leaf/debris collection, hedge trimming.
- Operate commercial grade large/ heavy landscaping equipment for example: 48–60-inch Zero Turn, 36-inch Walk-Behind or Stand on mowers, 7X16 ft utility trailer, dump trailers, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Active and valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
- Knowledgeable in best practices of various gardening techniques.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with clients, crew members and management.
- Ability to redirect crew members while on job site, if needed.
- Experience driving crew members, materials and job supplies as a primary component of daily tasks.
- Energetic, hardworking, and willing to learn.
Preferred Qualifications:
(Not Required for Hire)
- Formal education or certification in areas such as landscape design, horticulture, or arboriculture.
- Working knowledge of grounds keeping for government facilities.
- Holds current VDOT Basic and/or Intermediate Level Work Zone Safety Certification(s).
- Time management skills with “sense of urgency” in performance.
- Detailed oriented.
- Working knowledge of Virginia Work Area Protection Manual (VWAPM).
- Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and compliance.
Physical Requirements:
- Work in most outdoor weather conditions.
- Lift and/or carry at least 30lbs.
- Must be able to conduct repetitive range of motion – requiring frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and shoveling.
